I was just 22 (playing a 16-year-old school girl), when I had my professional theatre debut at La Mama/Carlton Courthouse in Melbourne. I was cast as the lead actress in Jill O’Callaghan’s “Merchant of Medicine” opposite actor Joe Clements (Neighbours, City Homicide, Blue Heelers) and the late veteran actress Marion Heathfield (Round the Twist, Carson’s Law, Division 4, Stingers). The play had a three-week run and my beautiful mother Val flew over on closing night. The play got reviewed in The Sunday Age and The Melbourne Times. On closing night, Marion Heathfield gifted me with an actor’s handbook with a special note written inside. It is one of my favourite treasures.
