Vanessa de Largie was the first person on the internet to start creating erotic blackout poetry. She was originally inspired by the wonderful blackout artist Austin Kleon. And between 2016 to 2019 – she went nuts, sometimes creating as many as three erotic blackouts a day. Blackout Poetry is all about finding something old and making it new. It could be a newspaper or magazine article. It could be a page from the Bible or a novel. One finds an existing text and blackens out sections with a marker until the words left over form a new poem. One can also include paints, collage and drawings in their blackouts – as Vanessa has done.
