I was invited by Joe Hildebrand to be a guest on Studio 10 to defend violent porn, after a column I wrote for The Spectator. I was flying to Sydney early the same morning to appear on the show. And as fate would have it, I get to Melbourne airport and all the planes are grounded due to some of the strongest winds Victoria has ever recorded.
I had to ring the show’s producer at some ungodly hour to tell her of my situation. And then get to the channel 10 studios in South Yarra in a cab and do a ‘live cross’ in my airport clothes (without any hair or makeup done and with a mic that didn’t work). All of these events totally threw me off and I became nervous. But gee I learnt from the experience – so many lessons. Grateful to Joe for throwing me a life raft during trainwreck interview.
