In 2009, Vanessa de Largie was one of 12 students worldwide accepted into the revered New Actors Workshop in New York (summer school) for 3 weeks to study acting under Oscar-winning film director Mike Nichols and his staff.
Vanessa sublet an apartment in Brooklyn for a month and caught the subway to classes every day. She visited Harlem ( you can read her article about it here), and met the wonderful jazz icon Marjorie Elliot at her house (she lives on Edgecombe Ave in the apartment building where Count Basie and Duke Ellington lived). Vanessa walked around Greenwich Village with a one-buck map, seeing where all her favourite writers wrote and committed suicide. Visited the Empire State – unfortunately, Cary Grant wasn’t up there waiting for her. And much, much more!
Below are some pics of her Brooklyn sublet, Greenwich Village, Harlem and a blonde wig photoshoot Vanessa did with her two Brooklyn housemates. BTW, Vanessa’s head is completely shaved, so all the hair you see in photos is different wigs.
