I’ve been making vision boards since the mid 90s – way before influencers made them a cool thing. A vision board (also called a mood board or dream board) is essentially a visual representation of one’s goals.
Vision boards don’t work unless you do.
If you want a new car. You don’t just sit around eating doughnuts! You may have to take on extra shifts at work or get a loan from the bank.
I’ve had years where everything on my vision board manifested but it takes discipline and consistent effort throughout the entire year.
Below is my Vision Board and an explanation of what each image represents.
Making myself a priority
The overall theme of this year’s vision board is putting myself first. Putting my needs before work, brands, friends, family and lovers.
Becoming the healthiest version of myself
The images of the lemon, running shoes and sun signify – nutrition, exercise and sunshine. During lockdown, I purchased a treadmill due to my agoraphobia. I am still not out of the woods but in 2024 I intend to start running outside in nature. Once my health improves.
Legally changing my name
Changing the name I was born with is a decision I don’t take lightly. It is something I have contemplated for many years. I do not believe that women should take a man’s name after marriage, I see it as an act of subservience and a loss of female identity. So much so, that after my mother died – I gave her back her maiden name on her epitaph.
As a tribute to my late mother. I have decided to take her maiden name as my second middle name. I am at peace with my decision and this is something that will eventuate – later in the year.
My book
In 2024, my new book will launch. I am incredibly proud that I wrote it and found an Australian publisher willing to take a punt on it.
Building my small business
As many of you know, I started my own small business in February 2023 but due to major health issues – it had to be put on the backburner.
This year, I am going to give my business the love and attention it deserves and build it into something that I can be proud of.
Travel
Before I turned 40, I travelled extensively to countries all over the world. I visited Italy, England, Greece, Scotland, Ireland, America, New Zealand, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, China, Japan, Vietnam and more.
This year, I am taking a trip to a place that I have dreamed of going to since I was a teenager. The last time I travelled was prior to the pandemic. So I am eager for a new adventure.
Boundaries and Cutting Cords
I choose relationships and friendships that are reciprocal, loving and genuine.
Vintage Style
Op-shopping (thrifting) is in my blood. My late Mum was taking me to op-shops from the early 80s onwards. Mum loved the 40s/50s era and she passed her passion on to me.
During the pandemic, my online vintage shopping addiction was out of control. I purchased over 100 vintage outfits just for the dopamine hit.
I have decided to work my way through every outfit in my wardrobe during 2024 – taking lots of wonderful photos along the way – to keep as memories.
Sex, decadance, creativity and more
A lot of the other things on my vision board are abstract and represent very personal and intimate desires – that I don’t wish to share at this point in time.
The first week of January has been exquisite. I’ve already actioned one MASSIVE change which will affect the outcome of my whole year.
I hope you are all enjoying this new slate.
Three cheers for 2024!
