A snog (more commonly known as a kiss) is the act of pressing your lips against the lips of another.
A kiss can express passion, love, respect, friendship – the list goes on. The word derives from an old English word ‘Cyssan’ (to kiss.)
In Western society, snogging another person on the lips is an expression of affection, love or romantic sentiment between two people.
In South East Asia, they have what is referred to as the ‘sniff-kiss.’ Mouth to mouth kissing is reserved for sexual intimacy, only to be expressed in private. In many tribal cultures ‘kiss me’ equates to ‘smell me.’
A historian named Ernest Crawley decided to research the origins of kissing and found it was first established amongst the elite and rarely observed within lower societies.
